Craft Writing Workshop - BeCraft Gallery + Studio Magazine - Belgium

Emerging and established craft writers are invited to apply for an in-person Craft Writing Workshop at BeCraft Gallery in Mons, Belgium taking place July 29th, 2025.

We are seeking to expand the impact and reach of craft writing and criticism. This is an application fee-free, tuition-free workshop for 2-5 individuals who work as independent writers, students, curators, and editors with an interest in craft criticism. No craft publication history is required. Applications will also be accepted from diverse fields of interest, from writing, art history, design, curation, journalism, and many others.

The workshop will examine craft through a critical lens, consider the relationship between craft and contemporary criticism, with a focus on writing about material practice. The selected cohort will participate in a roundtable discussion on writing about craft, will analyze work in the gallery, and work with Lera Kotsyuba, Editor in Chief of Studio Magazine, on a short written article, with an opportunity to have the article published in Studio Magazine in 2026..

The residency will take place in-person at BeCraft Gallery in Mons, Belgium, on July 29th, 2025. Selected applicants will be notified by July 18th, 2025.
